Corbett National Park : The Home of the Man-Eater

The original name of the place is the Jim Corbett National Park. Located in the calm and serene hills of Kumaon, the national park is home to some of the most incredible tigers in India. It is the tigers in Corbett whose ancestors were once the terror of the entire Kumaon region.

Man eating tigers were quite common in the Kuamon region. People were terrified of them. Their horror stories spread far and wide and attracted the attention of the renowned hunter, Jim Corbett. This legendary hunter put a stop to this menace. Later in his life, Jim Corbett became a champion of conservation and did his best to protect the magnificent tigers from extinction. The national park serves as a memorial to this great man and the work he did for saving tigers.

Now the Jim Corbett National Park is home to some major beasts including elephants and bears. Apart from the great tigers a variety of small cats roam here in the midst of the verdant vegetation.
