Srikalahasti Temple
The Srikalahasti Temple is another popular temple in the vicinity of Tirupati. This majestic temple rises above the town with its massive gopuram. The bright white facades of the gopuram are incredibly striking. It is often considered to be among the more impressive temples dedicated to Lord Shiva in South India. The current building of temple was built under the rule of the Chola kings in the 11th century. However, mentions of the temple site have been found as early as the 3rd century BC.
Chandragiri Fort
Built in the 11th century, the Chandragiri Fort is an impressive structure. This fascinating place was once the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. Now, amidst its ruins you will find a great palace which serves as a museum currently. The Raja Mahal is now an archeological museum and it showcases the beautiful architectural styles of its age. The architecture of the museum is of the Indo-Saracenic style while the crowning towers showcase the Hindu styles beautifully.
Goddess Alamelumanga Temple
The scenic Goddess Alamelumanga Temple is dedicated to Lady Alamelumanga, the consort of Lord Venkateshwara. The goddess Alamelumanga is considered to be an avatar of the goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu and the Hindu goddess of good fortune and wealth.
Kapila Theertham
The massive Kapila Theertham is a temple which is located right in front of a spectacular mountain cave. Nearby, there is an incredible cascade where the Paapa Vinashanam, a mountain stream, falls majestically through the huge waterfall. The entrance to Kapila Theertham is guarded by an immense stone statue of the bull, Nandi, the steed of Lord Shiva.
Talakona Waterfalls
The mesmerizing Talakona Waterfalls is located inside the Sri Venkateswara National Park. Here you can enjoy the largest waterfall in the state of Andhra Pradesh falling gracefully over a 270 feet drop.
