Bharatpur is the perfect example of a true Rajasthani town. The dustiness and the noisiness of the town can have a different charm altogether from the rather touristy areas in the other parts of Rajasthan. Bharatpur Government Museum

Situated within the Lohagarh Fort, the Government Museum is worth a visit. It houses various artifacts but its collection of Jain paintings and sculptures is quite sizeable and interesting. A number of weapons and different animal trophies make up the rest of the museum. The total number of artifacts to enjoy in the museum is more than 4000. The building itself is a masterpiece of fine architecture.

Lohagarh Fort

The Lohagarh Fort has been known as the Iron Fort due to its incredibly sturdy defenses which have made it one of the strongest to have been built in India. The structure still retains its former magnificence though the years have been harsh to it. Its impressive architecture never fails to capture the imagination of the visitors. The water tank of the fort is worth a visit as you will be able to bask in the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary

The former shooting resort is now a bird sanctuary filled with numerous different species, both indigenous and foreign. The sanctuary is a paradisiacal land for the bird lovers. There are nearly 375 bird species that frequent the place and you can have the time of your life enjoying their company. The significant vegetation of the area provide ample coverage for these boards to nest during which season, the whole sanctuary reverberates with the music of the birds. Birds from all over the world come and visit the
sanctuary including European ones. It’s easy to get lost and confused in the midst of all the species of birds that can visit this place.

Ganga Mandir in Bharatpur

The Ganga Mandir is a two storied temple built with red sandstone. The residing deity of this exquisite structure is the goddess Ganga. The impeccable architecture of the temple is highlighted by the delicate and elegant stone terraces.
