Kurukshetra : Birthplace of the Bhagavad Gita

The enchanting landscape of Kurukshetra holds a special significance to the followers of the Hindu religion. The place is considered to be the location of the famous battle between the Pandavas and Kauravas as described in the epic, Mahabharata. It is also the place where Lord Krishna propounded his sermon to Arjuna which later came to be known as the Bhagavad Gita.Historically, the city holds a lot of importance. It is believed that the Aryan civilization flourished in this region. Moreover, it is hard to escape the charm of the place.

Jyotisar: Birthplace of Bhagavad Gita

Among all the holy sites in Kurukshetra, Jyotisar holds a place of special importance to the Hindus. It is believed to be the exact location where Lord Krishna delivered his sermon of the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. The banyan tree at the spot is worshipped as a holy tree. According to the legends, the sermon was delivered by Lord Krishna under that tree.

Brahma Sarovar

The huge water tank called Brahma Sarovar is an amazing sight. It holds tremendous religious importance as well. According to the Hindu religion, the Brahma Sarovar marks the spot where Lord Brahma created the universe. In other words, the place is supposed to be the cradle of civilization as per the legends.

Sheikh Chehlli Tomb

Sheikh Chelli was a popular saint of Sufism and he is buried here in the beautiful tomb along with his family. The mausoleum has been constructed with marble and sandstone which looks fantastic together. The architecture style of the structure possesses decidedly Persian influences. The tomb is quite important in terms of architecture.

Bhadrakali Temple

The Goddess Bhadrakali, an avatar of the goddess Sati, is worshipped at this temple. The temple is immensely important to the Hindu religion due to its association with many of the myths of the religion. The temple is considered to be among the 52 Shakti Peeths. Additionally, the Pandavas had come here with Lord Krishna to worship the goddess before and after the battle of Kurukshetra.

Sri Krishna Museum

The Sri Krishna Museum is a fascinating museum dedicated to Lord Krishna, one of the most important Hindu deities. The museum will present you with various interpretations of the god. The galleries here are filled with interesting bronze castings, stone sculptures, miniature paintings, leaf etchings, terracotta items and clay pottery. All of them are related to Lord Krishna and his mythos as described in the Mahabharata and the Bhagavad Gita.
