How to Get There
By Air :
Shillong Airport in Umroi, is a small airport that is available for the flights via Alliance Air and is located at a distance of 40 km from Shillong.
By Rail :
There are no rail lines in Meghalaya. The nearest railway station is Guwahati. It is 104 km from Shillong and very well connected with all major cities of India.
By Road :
National Highway 40, an all-weather road, connects Shillong with Guwahati. State’s Transport Corporation and private transport operators have services to various places in Meghalaya and to neighboring states. Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) and
Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) operates bus services from Shillong to Guwahati and Guwahati to Shillong from 0600 hours to 1700 hours daily.
Elephant Falls
The Elephant Falls is an enchanting place. The beauty of this waterfall will captivate you completely. The sight of the glorious sparkling waters falling down amidst the lush green foliage will take your breath away.
Shillong Peak
The picturesque Shillong Peak allows you to get an amazing panorama of the surrounding region. The landscape around the peak is similarly superb. Butterfly Museum

There are various conservation programs performed by the museum to protect the different species of moths and butterflies. Lady Hydari Park
The verdant expanse of the Lady Hydari Park is rife with exquisite beauty. You will be charmed with the blooming roses and flowers that seem to be painted with every colour of the rainbow. The stunning array of colours is like a feast for the eyes. Here, you can also take a stroll through the mini zoo or watch the graceful deer at the deer park.
Golf Course
The British originally introduced the gentleman’s game of golf to Shillong. Now, the golf course is one of the oldest in India. The course is surrounded by tall trees of pine and rhododendron creating an absolutely charming sight. It makes teeing off here a more pleasurable experience indeed.
Umiam Lake
Created after a dam was built over the Umiam River, the lake offers some incredible sights. You will be enchanted with the breathtaking beauty of the lake if you visit during the sunset. Sometimes a light mist hangs over creating a scene that will remind you of a painting. The bluish hues of the lake merge with soft golden rays of the sun when the mist is around.
