Shri Mahavir Ji: Historical Pilgrimage

The history of Shri Mahavir Ji is just as fascinating as the spectacular architecture of the place. Shri Mahavir Ji is an incredible complex of temples each of which possesses an amazing style of architecture and importance. The whole complex is dedicated to the Jain religion making it one of the most important pilgrimage sites for its followers.

Among the four temples, the Shri Mahaverji Atishaya Kshetra is the most important and stunning. It is dedicated to the Digambar sect of Jainism and features some stunning sights. This temple is located near the banks of a tranquil river and is filled with picturesque natural beauty.

The idol of Lord Mahavir is a spectacle in itself but you are bound to be stunned at the beauty of the architecture of the temple. The roof of the temple is adorned with some amazing pinnacles and towers. While the idol of Lord Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankars of Jainism is incredible, you will find finely carved statues belonging to the other Tirthankars as well. The walls of the temple are richly decorated with innumerable carvings, both inside and outside.

Another temple that you will enjoy visiting is the Shantinath Jinalaya where a colossal statue stands with its height of 28 feet.
